Raum shoes are hand crafted in Gaziantep, Turkey. We have a small atelier there where a group of artisans have been making footwear for generations. Each shoe has over 200 steps to create the finished product. We hand select the best and softest leathers locally. We then hand cut each pattern piece using the same methods of bespoke shoemakers. All pieces are then meticulously stitched to form the upper of the shoe. After the upper is stitched, it is then pulled over the "Last" or foot form. The craft of lasting a shoe involves pulling, pushing, nailing, hammering and caressing the upper to ensure the shape of the shoe is perfect. 

After the upper has been lasted, the vegetable-tanned leather sole is applied to the bottom. The edge is cut by hand with precision to follow the perimeter of the shoe. This process takes skill that comes with practice and dedication. Our artisans have an incredible amount of craftsmanship learned from previous generations of Turkish cobblers. 

The secret sauce to our shoes is the copper rivets that are hand hammered through the sole. These rivets touch the bottom of your feet and the surface of the earth. This is the conductive aspect to our shoes. Out of the bag, you will be able to absorb the Earth's electrons into your body. 

All of our shoes tell a story. There is no pair exactly like another. You can see this with each individual stitch, seam and piece of leather. We believe imperfections are beautiful. That is why we use real natural tanned leather and almost every part of the hide. You will find some wrinkles in our shoes. You will find some color variance. This is what makes our shoes so special.
